Cam DeCaussin
DeCaussin draws inspiration from the emptiness found in everyday space and its ability to evoke themes of solace, sadness, and contemplation. His art captures fleeting moments within neighborhood homes during the seemingly tranquil hours between dawn and dusk, revealing brief moments of life within. Existing within the delicate balance of observation and voyeurism, each painting brings the viewer into a multifaceted narrative unfolding before them, reminding viewers of their place within a vast, interconnected universe. DeCaussin’s work serves as a reminder that we are not the sole being, but rather, we exist in many different stories, if only for a few brief seconds.
Influenced by the iconic works of painter Edward Hopper and photographer Gregory Crewdson, DeCaussin uses oil paint to imbue his compositions with intricate detail, moments of light and color, enigmatic energy, and an ambiguous mystery within his subjects.
